Happy birthday to Charlie Maynard, Liberal Democrat MP for Whitney

After studying geography at Christ Church college, Oxford, Maynard co-founded BDA Partners an international investment advice company. In 2022 he was elected as a councillor on West Oxfordshire District Council, serving as the Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Sustainable Development from November 2023 until the 2024 general election. At the election Maynard defeated the sitting Conservative MP and Solicitor General Robert Courts, winning with a majority of 4,339 becoming the first non-Conservative MP for the area since 1922. Maynard has been Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury since October 2025 and is a member of the Business & Trade Select Committee.
