Happy birthday to Ben Maguire, Liberal Democrat MP for North Cornwall

Born in Truro, Maguire was educated at University College London where he was a founding member of the College’s Cornish Society. Before entering parliament, Maguire worked as a solicitor and prior to that worked in the constituency offices of former Lib Dem MPs Dan Rogerson and Ian Swales. In February 2024 Maguire was selected at PPC for North Cornwall and won the seat that July, defeating the sitting Tory MP on a swing of 24.9% to the Liberal Democrats. Maguire is a member of the Lib Dem front bench team as Shadow Attorney General in the Home Affairs, Justice and Equalities team. He is also a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee.
