H. H. Asquith is appointed Leader of the Liberal Party

The meeting held in the Reform Club, included Liberal members of the House of Lords, House of Commons and representatives of the party organisation in the country. After a short speech from Asquith a resolution drawn up by John Morley praising the Prime Minister’s ‘strong sense in council, power in debate and consummate mastery of all the habit and practice of public business’ was passed unanimously.
