Roy Jenkins delivers his Dimbleby Lecture ‘Home Thoughts from Abroad’

In his lecture Roy Jenkins criticised the false choices, see-saw politics and broken promises of the two-party system and calls for electoral reform and a strengthening of the ‘radical centre’. The speech was widely regarded as a clarion call for a new political grouping in British politics which lead to the founding of the Social Democratic Party.
