Ian Bradley is as academic, author, broadcaster and theologian. In a varied career Bradley has worked for The Times and the BBC – serving as Head of Religious Broadcasting for BBC Scotland. He taught for many years at the University of St Andrews and is ordained to the Church of Scotland. He stood as a Liberal candidate at the February 1974 election. Ian Bradley has written extensively on subjects as diverse as Celtic mythology and Gilbert & Sullivan and include The Optimists: Themes and Personalities in Victorian Liberalism (1980), Breaking the Mould: The Birth and Prospects of the Social Democratic Party (1981) and The Strange Rebirth of Liberal Britain (1985).
