A memorial service is held for Edward Grey at Westminster Abbey

A Memorial Service for Edward Grey, Viscount Grey of Fallodon, the great Liberal Foreign Secretary, is held at Westminster Abbey. Grey is best remembered for his remark at the outbreak of the First World War: ‘The lamps are going out all over Europe. We shall not see them lit again in our life-time.’
