Death of Sir Jerom Murch, Unitarian minister and municipal activist in the Whig/Radical tradition

He was a member of Bath City Council and Mayor seven times. Murch tried to use the power of the city to modernise and improve Bath, construct new civic buildings and engineer drainage and flood management systems. He was unsuccessful Gladstonian Liberal candidate for Bath at a by-election in 1873.
