Happy birthday to Will Forster, Liberal Democrat MP for Woking

Born in Woking, he was educated at Woking high school and Woking college. He has served as a councillor on Woking Borough Council since 2011 and Surrey County Council since 2009, serving as mayor of Woking 2018-19. Employed by the party, Forster worked as ALDC regional development officer and later as Liberal Democrat campaign manager for the southeast. Forster contested Woking at both the 2017 and 2019 general elections, increasing the Liberal Democrat vote at both elections and putting the Lib Dems back into second place. At the 2024 election Forster went one better defeating the sitting Tory Jonathan Lord with a majority of 11,246 on a swing of 20.3% for the Lib Dems. In the House of Commons Forster sits as a member of the Housing Communities and Local Government Select Committee.
