Birth of Bertrand Russell, 3rd Earl Russell, philosopher, writer and mathematician

He was grandson of Liberal Prime Minister Lord John Russell and godson of John Stuart Mill. Russell at times described himself as a liberal, socialist and pacifist. Throughout his life he was committed opponent of war, proponent of free trade and supporter of anti-imperialist causes. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950.
