The Liberal Party Assembly votes to join the Common Market

The Liberal Party Assembly meeting in Edinburgh votes overwhelmingly to apply to join the Common Market in a motion moved by Jeremy Thorpe MP. The vote prompts the resignation of Oliver Smedley later chairman of the “Keep Britain Out” campaign and one of the founders of the Thatcherite Institute of Economic Affairs.
