David Lloyd George is made Minister of Munitions

He was the first minister of the newly created office which was created following the shell crisis of the same year that had seen troops running out of artillery shells on the front line. The Minister of Munitions was responsible for supporting the war effort by ensuring the effective production and distribution of munitions, to avoid a repeat of the previous problems. Lloyd George stayed in the role until 9 July 1916, having been made the Secretary of State for War the previous month, succeeding Lord Kitchener who died in the sinking of HMS Hampshire.
