Happy birthday to Tom Gordon, Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate & Knaresborough

Tom Gordon was born in Knottingley, West Yorkshire and has a degree in Biochemistry from Newcastle University. He has worked in scientific recruitment and health services research and has had policy roles in the charitable sector including with the Carers’ Trust. He served as a councillor on Newcastle City Council and later represented his home town on Wakefield City Council. In the 2019 general election he fought Normanton, Pontefract & Castleford and was the party’s candidate in the 2021 Batley & Spen by-election. At the 2024 election he defeated the sitting Conservative MP to win Harrogate with a majority of 8,238. Tom Gordon is currently a member of the Science, Innovation & Technology Select Committee.
