Happy birthday to Marie Goldman, Liberal Democrat MP for Chelmsford

Educated at Exeter College, Devon and Royal Holloway University of London, Marie Goldman served on both Essex County Council and Chelmsford City Council where she served as Deputy Leader of the Council (2019-24). She fought Chelmsford in 2019 finishing second to Conservative incumbent Vicky Ford. Goldman turned the tables in 2024, defeating Ford by a majority of 4,753 votes to become only the second Liberal MP for the constituency after Sydney Robinson briefly held the seat between 1923-24. In the Commons, Goldman served as shadow Leader of the House following her election and since September 2025 she is the party’s Women and Equalities Spokesperson.
