Liberal candidate Captain William Edge is returned unopposed in a by-election at Bolton

Edge held his seat as a supporter of the Lloyd George coalition in 1918 and again as a Lloyd George National Liberal in 1922 but lost in 1923. He returned to Parliament in a by-election at Bosworth in 1927 which he represented as a Liberal and later as a National Liberal until he stood down in 1945.
