Mr and Mrs Gladstone receive a delegation
A delegation of several hundred Liberal supporters from Caernarfon and Bangor, including the newly elected MP David Lloyd George, visit Liberal leader William Ewart Gladstone and Mrs Gladstone at their home at Hawarden. The deputation includes many representatives of the Women’s Liberals introduced by Lloyd George who praised their work in his recent by-election win, proving they were more than a match for the ‘machinations of the Primrose League’. The party toured the castle gardens and sang Welsh hymns and songs for their hosts.
