Death of Geoffrey Mander, Liberal MP for Wolverhampton East 1929-45

Death of Geoffrey Mander, industrialist and Liberal MP for Wolverhampton East 1929-1945. Mander was a strong supporter of the League of Nations and was one of the first people to speak out against the dictators, becoming a leading critic of Neville Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement. Mander was chairman of the family firm Mander Brothers. In 1932 Mander Brothers was the first company in the country to introduce the forty-hour week. His home, Wightwick Manor in Wolverhampton, is a fine example of Arts and Crafts architecture and is now owned by the National Trust.
