Margaret Wintringham holds Louth for the Liberals

Mrs Margaret Wintringham wins the Louth by-election in a three cornered contest, becoming the first woman Liberal MP. In parliament Wintringham campaigned for an equalisation of the voting age, for women to be allowed to sit in the House of Lords and for equal pay. She retained the seat at both the 1922 and 1923 General Elections before losing to the Conservatives in 1924.
