Christine Jardine has been Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West since 2017. Before entering parliament, Jardine worked as a journalist for the BBC and was editor of the Scottish Press Association. In 2011 she was appointed Scottish Media Adviser to the Coalition Government, working with Nick Clegg. In 2015 Jardine fought Gordon in succession to Malcolm Bruce who had retired but lost to Alex Salmond of the SNP. She was successful at the following election regaining Edinburgh West from the SNP. In parliament she has spoken for the party on Justice, Scotland, and Work & Pensions. She is currently the Lib Dem Home Affairs Spokesperson.
