Death of Dugald McCoig Cowan, Liberal MP for The Combined Scottish Universities 1918-33. Before his parliamentary career Cowan was Headmaster of North Kelvinside Higher Grade School and an expert in education through bodies like the Educational Institute of Scotland. He is credited with improving educational provision, helping to raise teachers’ salaries and promoting teachers’ pension provision.
